Our Initiative

WE BELIEVE.

We believe that it all starts with an idea, followed by strategy, action and collaboration. We launched Alark Co., our company, in 2016 and we have been actively supporting causes that are important to us. We craft creative events to bring people together, create memorable experiences, promote local businesses, and most importantly, make an impact in our community.

Just like you, current events changed our personal and professional world as well. Around the World Locals / Around the World in Winnipeg was conceptualized several years ago. We officially launched in February 2020 to showcase local sights, sounds, and flavours in and around our beautiful city. We formed initiatives like the Bite Back Winnipeg: Food Truck Edition, Bite Back Winnipeg: Global Flavours Edition, Bite Back Winnipeg: A Community event (postponed at the advice of Public Health), and the month-long #bitebacklocalchallenge to help push the message of buying local during the holiday season. Our Team raised over $10,000 in prizes in less than a month, donated by our local business network. We have created brand initiatives such as Coffee with "X", GameFest Winnipeg, Pinta! Paint Series events, "Around the World in Winnipeg / Around the World LOCALS" - elevating local small businesses and featuring sights, sounds and flavours found locally. We also initiated and organized Tyndall Community Market and Summer Spark, a special event which included our vibrant community of youth and local vendors, non-profit organizations, exhibitors, and food trucks.

We are committed to create awareness of the hidden and unique local business gems and share a glimpse of their story. We intend to use our social platforms to make a difference in our community and to do our part to keep the cycle of support going for our local businesses.

We created Coffee with “X” not just for our love for coffee but also:

  • To raise awareness and elevate local coffee businesses and coffee and food culture in Manitoba

  • To give opportunities to locally owned micro and small food businesses to gain exposure in the local market and reach new markets

  • To find the best coffee drink and its perfect food pairing

  • To generate funds to donate to important causes through a registered local charity. Last year, the two main category winners each received a $500 cash prize, trophy, plaque and gift basket. The second category winners each received gift baskets and awards. We also donated $2000 to End Homelessness, a local organization, as selected by Cake-ology, the top voted participant in 2021.
